*Research Notes*
- Difficult to find anything anywhere about anyone. Still disappointed that it isn’t just bankers distilling this.
- Laird & Company does actually make something we’ve heard of–Apple Jack.
- Their website describes this as an “a pure spirit beverage made from a blend of apple brandy and neutral grain spirits.”
- It seems like Laird put a “Banker’s Club” label on every spirit, presumably to put a bottle on the bottom shelf of every section of the liquor store. Quantity, man! They even have a scotch that has a giant label that reads, “IMPORTED.”
- Supposedly the oldest licensed distillery in the USA. But haven’t distilled since the 1970’s. (via Wikipedia)
- The distilled liquor may come from Kentucky–after all, it IS what the label says. Perhaps Kasser Distillers Products Corp. takes care of the logistics?
*Tasting Notes*
via Peter J. Swift
- Color: Light amber. Looks young.
- Nose: Sweet, rotten fruit, some chemicals…not harsh at all. No oak, no distinct spice.
- Taste: I’ll be honest – I was expecting the worst. I figured it would be harsh and chemically. But, thanks to its low ABV, it didn’t burn at all. It was a little viscous, but really not very flavorful. There was some unexpected sweetness up front, kind of yeasty even. It really just didn’t have much to stand out.
- Finish: Sweet and cherries. But not good or delicious cherry, or even cherry flavored candy…this was more the cherry flavor of cheap cherry flavored chapstick. Only on the aftertaste in the very back of the throat was there even any indication of oak – but not a pleasant indication. It does stick with you for a little while.
